Care and Treatment Where it Matters
For many pet families, access to basic veterinary care is simply out of reach. Vulnerable communities, those experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, families without transportation, and so many others, often have no way to get their pets the care they desperately need. The Duffield Pet Wellness Days program believes every family deserves access to veterinary care, so we’re taking veterinarians to the streets.
Street vet programs come in many forms, but their mission is the same: bring care where it’s needed most and keep families together. These programs provide life-saving treatment while helping shelter teams understand the unique needs of their communities, often preventing pets from ever entering the shelter system.
To make this work, shelters need a plan for essential supplies and a team ready to hit the streets alongside a veterinarian. It doesn’t have to start big; it just has to start. Every visit matters. Every pet matters. Every family matters.
