Clap Your Paws Together for our Support the Shelters Sweepstakes Winners

Cathy Bissell and the BPF team are excited to announce the ten winning animal shelters from the Support the Shelters Sweepstakes! First of all, congratulations to Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary for bringing home the Grand-Prize of $30,000. Thanks to their loyal followers, Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary earned the most votes and will be able to impact thousands of cats. The sweepstakes prize will have a meaningful impact on spay/neuter to prevent future homelessness and will provide facility enhancements to create a safe haven for blind cats with untreatable diseases who would otherwise be homeless.

Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary opened its doors in 2005 when the owner of a visionless cat threatened to abandon his 6-week-old animal in a parking lot and Alana Miller stepped in to help. Alana started BCR in St. Pauls, North Carolina when she realized there was such a need to help cats that run a high risk of euthanasia. BCR is the only rescue facility in the country that exclusively welcomes blind cats with open arms.

Aside from the Grand-Prize winner, there were nine other opportunities for animal welfare organizations to win money to support adoption fees, spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccinations and facility enhancements.

Congrats to the following shelters and rescues drawn at random:

Animal Aid For Vermilion Area and Stray Rescue of St. Louis won $5,000

Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue and Green Lake Area Animal Shelter won $2,500

Alcona Humane Society, Feral Cat Assistance Program Inc., Animal Care Sanctuary, Palm Valley Animal Center and National Mill Dog Rescue all won $1,000 prizes.

That’s 10 winners and a total of $50,000! BISSELL Pet Foundation is so excited to see the impact that comes from this year’s Support the Shelters Sweepstakes – thanks to all who voted!

Until every pet has a home…
