Hurricane Florence Rescue Relief

Our hearts go out to our friends in the south who were affected by Hurricane Florence and continue to struggle in the aftermath of the storm this past weekend. We’ve seen so many devastating videos of pets in flooded shelters, waiting for someone to save them. Many transports took place before the hurricane hit, but for many shelters, there wasn’t enough time or money to evacuate. These shelters need immediate attention after suffering facility damage and experiencing high pet intake.

We are proud to partner with Brother Wolf Rescue to support their relief efforts in North Carolina. BWR has already spent thousands of dollars on supplies like van rentals, gas, crates, and other supplies to transport helpless pets out of affected areas. BPF awarded BWR a grant that will save approximately 250 animals impacted by Hurricane Florence.

BWR has shown immense courage by rescuing these animals (dogs, cats, and pigs) who have run away, been abandoned, or lived life as a stray. Their team has been working so hard not only to hold down the shelter but also to rescue pets amidst the dangerous weather conditions.

The animals are being transported to Asheville to wait out their stray holds at the BWR Adoption Center or in foster homes. If the animals have not been claimed by their owners, they will be made available for adoption. All Brother Wolf animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, disease tested, dewormed, and vaccinated prior to adoption. BPF’s grant will help cover these costs since resources in the area are limited right now.

There are other hurricane victims facing similar struggles. To help BISSELL Pet Foundation save pet lives, consider a donation. No matter how big or small, we want to help them ALL.
