Ionia County Animal Shelter Provides Free Adoptions with BPF Grant

Dewey

Dewey

BISSELL Pet Foundation awarded the Ionia County Animal Shelter a grant that provided the funds necessary for the shelter to take in stray and unwanted cats and kittens, provide medical attention and then allow them to be adopted free of charge. By providing these free adoptions, the shelter was able to move the cats and kittens through the shelter quickly, so they could turn around and take in even more from the community. These free adoptions kept cats and kittens in the shelter for a shorter period of time leading to lower stress levels and healthier outcomes. The happier the cat, the easier it is to find a home and this grant has provided over 130 cats with a happy home to date!

Mouse

Mouse

Two cats that found a loving home thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation grant are Dewy and Mouse. These two brothers were surrendered by their owner who was moving away and could not take them along with her. They were taken in to the shelter and provided with all the medical care necessary to prepare them for adoption.

One day, a family came in to the shelter to add a furry member to their household. They adopted Dewey and by the time they got home they felt so bad that they had not adopted his brother too. They went back to the shelter a few days later and adopted Mouse, who was very happy to be reunited with his brother. Thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation grant, the Ionia County Animal Shelter was able to provide free adoptions to give two brothers their forever home together.
