Pets Saved from Neglectful Conditions with BPF Grant

Phoenix SPCA TexasThe BISSELL Pet Foundation recently provided a grant to the SPCA of Texas to assist with providing medical attention to all pets brought in through the Animal Cruelty Unit. The SPCA of Texas focuses on the North Central Texas area operating two shelters and three spay/neuter clinics to serve the community and their pets. They offer educational programs, vaccination clinics and work to enrich the lives of people and pets together.

Phoenix was one of the very special dogs saved with the help of the BISSELL Pet Foundation grant. He was found trapped under a porch with significant scar tissue, massive burns running down his shoulders and back. He was severely malnourished and in desperate need of immediate medical attention. SPCA of Texas worked with the Dallas District Attorney’s office to seize him that same day. For three months, the animal care staff spent countless hours nursing him back to good health with hydrotherapy baths, a nutritious diet and lots of loving attention. The moment he was put up for adoption, he quickly found a loving home. Phoenix was such a hit at the shelter that his new family created his own Facebook page, so that people could follow his progress in his new home!
