Routine Veterinary Care Can Save A Life!

When deciding to adopt a pet, it’s important to remember to budget the costs of caring for that pet. Like humans, animals need routine medical care to keep them happy and healthy. It isn’t always inexpensive, but it’s important to keep your pet up to date on shots and vaccinations to avoid serious health issues in the future. All too often dogs are found neglected and with little to no veterinary care. Rescue ME Clifford helps save these animals by providing shelter and medical treatment to get them ready for a new home.

Rescue Me Clifford located in East Central, Illinois is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs who are at high risk of being euthanized. When a dog is identified as being at risk, Rescue ME Clifford provides their best efforts to tend to the dog’s needs. They provide veterinary care such as vaccinations, tests, spay/neuter and even surgeries in severe cases. They also find good foster homes for the animals until they are healthy enough to be adopted by a loving family. These procedures are very important to the well-being of dogs, but the costs add up. With the help of a grant from the BISSELL Pet Foundation, Rescue ME Clifford was able to provide medical care for 18 dogs that needed immediate veterinary attention and prepare them for the life they have always deserved.

Aspen - Rescue ME Clifford

Aspen – Rescue ME Clifford

One of the dogs who received medical care was originally found running down a major highway in Illinois. The Vice President of Rescue ME Clifford noticed the dog, pulled over, opened her car door and the dog jumped right in. She immediately took him to the vet and called the local animal shelter to see if anyone had been searching for him. Aspen, as he is now known, wasn’t claimed after seven days and became a Rescue ME Clifford dog. Unfortunately, he needed significant veterinary treatment. He suffered from hip issues, needed to be updated on all his shots, receive vaccinations, and be heart-worm tested. With the BISSELL Pet Foundation grant, Rescue ME Clifford was able to provide Aspen the surgery he needed to nurse him back to full health and prepare him for adoption.
