When disastrous flooding overwhelmed Vermont two weeks ago, BPF took immediate action to transport pets. Because Montpelier was already underwater and the reservoir above it was expected to breach, there were concerns about the flooded area dramatically expanding. The nearby Central Vermont Humane Society staff was still able to care for pets in their shelter; however, they anticipated a crisis with people temporarily surrendering their pets because of the devastation, and a decrease in potential adopters.
